The Essentials
Annual leave rules are defined under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. There are many intricate rules within the Act, below identifies the key areas to be considered. It is important to note that many other types of leave will impact annual leave or holiday rules.
Statutory holiday leave entitlement is currently 4 weeks of the working week, i.e. fulltime employee will receive 40 hours * 4 weeks, part time employees will generally earn 8% of their hours worked up to a maximum of 20 days. (or as stated on their contract of employment, the employer can give more holidays in their terms and conditions)
